“Mr. Bob Tunheim will make a wonderful Mayor for the city of Orono. I understand this first hand as I worked closely with Bob his entire time on the school board. Through our work, I came to know him as an extremely intelligent and productive leader who thinks of others and cares deeply about his contributions. He is thoughtful in his approach to problems. He solves problems and does not avoid or ignore difficult situations or difficult people. Listening to the opinions of others and respecting differing opinions can be observed as one of his many positive attributes. He is both flexible and innovative in all of his work.

When working in groups, Bob is often called upon to be a leader. People believe in him as a quiet, thoughtful person who displays leadership skills in all situations. He is respectful and takes responsibility. His keen intellect and gentle humor keep him calm in stressful situations. Bob gives of his time and his talent. He is of service to others.

A sense of fairness and ethics guide Bob in his work and in his decision making. It is a privilege and honor to work with him and share in his knowledge and leadership. Strong cities need a mayor who supports their schools and respects their citizens. Bob is a kind, intelligent, and highly regarded gentleman who would make an excellent mayor and a strong ambassador for the city of Orono.

Our children greatly benefited from your leadership on the school board, where you fostered a culture of respect, caring, and inclusion. I’m confident you will continue to inspire and lead as Mayor, just as you did with the creation of the vibrant Orono Activity Center and multiple decades of service to our community. Your victory will be vital to Orono’s future.”
